MarkCooperSeminar - ARC Training Centre in Predictive Breeding

Seminar | Professor Mark Cooper, Back to the Future: Long-term genetic gain and the roles of additive channels in genomic prediction outcomes

1:00pm
Wed Apr 8 2026

Brisbane & Zoom

Join us for our next seminar which will be presented by Professor Mark Cooper of the University of Queensland.

Date: 8 April
Time: 1pm AEST
Location: 3.142 QBP (Building 80), UQ, and online via Zoom

In this seminar, Professor Cooper provides an overview of a recent publication “Back to the Future 2: the implications of germplasm structure on the balance between short and long-term genetic gain in a changing target population of environments”, and introduces recent work with Professor Daniel Ortiz-Barrientos that develops the concept of “Additive Channels” as a framework for interpretation of genetic gain for complex traits where the “(GxG)x(ExM) context” shapes the adaptation landscape explored by breeding programs.
