Theme 3 - ARC Training Centre in Predictive Breeding

New approaches to model GxExM interactions

Improving prediction accuracy.

The core focus of Theme 3 is to develop innovative approaches to model GxExM interactions to improve prediction accuracy for future target environments, novel agronomic management strategies, unmeasured traits and design of new genotypes, which are requirements to meet ensuing sustainability metrics.

Objectives:

Develop novel methodologies that combine classic statistical approaches, dynamic biophysical models, and ML methods for enhanced prediction of GxExM interactions

Develop deployable predictive tools in commercial breeding programs that address computational issues associated with the multi-dimensional structure of GxExM interactions

Build capacity in the next generation of breeders to employ statistical and dynamic modelling of GxExM

Theme 3 example projects

project

APSIM-WGP for yield stability in soybean

project

Modelling GxExM to improve feed efficiency in dairy cattle

project

Exploring GxE for free asparagine levels in Australian wheat and developing high throughput screening methods
