Xiaoqian Hu is based at the University of Queensland, undertaking a PhD project titled Data-Driven Crop Breeding: Enhancing Disease Resistance through Vision-based Digital Phenotyping, supervised by Associate Professor Sen Wang, Professor Helen Huang, and Dr. Ruihong Qiu.
Xiaoqian’s interests lie in computer vision, continual learning and the development of AI-driven tools for sustainable agriculture. His research focuses on leveraging advanced deep learning and computer vision techniques to automate and improve the accuracy of plant disease detection and phenotypic trait analysis.
By integrating vision-based digital phenotyping with modern breeding programs, Xiaoqian aims to accelerate the discovery of disease-resistant crop varieties and support data-driven decision-making in agriculture.
